Your Own Offer?
If you are
looking to start an affiliate program or join one, what is the
most important thing you should look at? The product? The
commission? The agreement?
All are important
of course, but not nearly as important as the answers to the
following questions:
- Do you have an
effective, existing sales process in place?
- Do you
know how to encourage users to take one specific action when
they visit a Web site?
Because if you do
not know how to sell your own offer, you cannot expect your
affiliates to do it.
How do you know
if your offer is working? There is only one way to find out: by
testing it.
I am constantly
amazed at how many companies do not test and measure
performance. Test your offer (whether it's an ad for your own
product or for an affiliate program), and when you are sure you
know it makes money, you can roll it out on a larger scale.
5 Guerrilla
Marketing Techniques
If you are like
any other business owner who needs to make money online, you
will be interested in some of the current guerrilla marketing
techniques that the direct marketing professionals use:
Cooperate
and share traffic. Sharing traffic and providing Web
site visitors with links to other sites that might be
interesting to them is a proven way to boost your traffic. If
you don't have ad resources, try bartering.
Monetize
your existing traffic with
cost-per-action offers. Co-promote
different cost-per-action offers on your sign-up form. It is
much easier to get visitors to take action on a free offer than
it is to get them to make a purchase.
Work on
search site rankings. If you do not have time to do
your own search site optimization, partner with the sites that
have top 10 positions for your favorite keywords.
Use e-mail to make money.
Build your list and be personal in your e-mail communication
style. Get an e-mail autoresponder system, such as
AWeber's or
GetResponse.com's,
to help you build a relationship with your audience.
Use your
e-mail list to market your affiliate programs. Don't
market it this way just once: Go for repeat sales, not just for
a one-shot deal.
